200amp Residential Electrical Service UPGRADE!!! in Toronto/GTA and Surrounding areas
If you are a home/property owner in the GTA and are looking to upgrade your electrical service to 100/200 amp, or even just change your old fuse box to a breaker panel, there a several steps during the process. One of the first steps is finding a reputable licensed electrical contractor who can arrange a design layout from the Local Hydro Utility provider. In the GTA this is done by the Hydro Company to ensure the safest and most easily accessible location for the Hydro Meter and the Service Conductor Supply Connection Point. After this is completed the electrical contractor can continue with final pricing and begin the installation. The electrical contractor then arranges all Electrical Inspections and Utility Disconnects and Re-Connects are done appropriatley and in sync to minimize downtime of zero energy in the residence.
As shown in the pictures below, in this case the Local Utility Designer wanted the electrical service Meter and Supply connection to be moved to the front of the property. During the initial installation the equipment was installed on the side of the house in the “carport” which at the time had no garage door. But since original construction a garage door has been installed deeeming this space inaccessible to the Local Utility providers employees should they need to service the equipment. This made the installation process easier, as we were able to install all new service components ahead of time and kept the loss of electricity to the home to only as long as it took the Local Utility to perform the new service work(1hr.). This luxury can often be arranged during the design process, should the proper effort be put in to meet with the local design and inspection authorities.
