COVID-19 Electrical Safety Authority Update!!!!

Hello all,

I hope you are being safe and healthy and doing your best to stay sane by keeping yourselves occupied. It is a scary time right now as most of us have had a sudden drastic change to our daily lives. Alot of you homeowners may be taking this time to do that renovation that you have been putting off now that we have more time at home. If your projects were to include electrical installations that require an electrical inspection, I would like to inform you that during this time the Electrical Safety Authority(ESA) has made temporary changes to their inspection process, and one of the major ones is that they will not be performing inspections for Non-Contractors/Homeowners until the foreseeable future. They are only performing inspections done by Licensed Electrical Contractors, thus meaning if you have any work you were performing yourselves that it can not be inspected until this crisis is all over, unless you hire a Licensed Electrical Contractor to take over the permit and the inspections process for you.

Since this crisis has already had a negative impact on many people both mentally and financially, and we are being asked to spend more time at home than normal, this brings potential for more elctrical problems. I have had several emergency calls due to the higher energy comsumptions at homes from all of our daily electronic devices and other energy consuming devices. We typically charge a minimum 3 hrs. for any service calls, but until this crisis is over have decided to reduce that to a 2hr. minimum aimed to give some financial relief for families that require electrical assistance. Also if you are a homeowner whose project is on hold due to the ESA’s sudden process changes, give us a call and we can discuss helping you get through this and continue your project.

Take Care Everyone,

Andrew Downing
